About This Project

This piece was a submission to the online magazine Creative Treatment. It was featured in the fourth issue which had the theme Identity. My intention was to show the various ways in which a person can be categorized. It is interesting to me how we allow ourselves to be compartmentalized by a specific detail of our lives, as well as how we arrange and group other people according to their various, almost meaningless, details. It was just as interesting to me, to consider who knows me, specifically, by what details. To one person I am my age, to another I am my relationship to my daughter or brother, to another I am a gender, and to another I am a representative of where I live.

I think the piece that is missing from this project includes my beliefs, my profession, my affiliations, my accomplishments and my education. Though I tried to come up with a visual representation of some of these items, I didn't find enough before the magazine deadline to include a spread addressing them sufficiently. Otherwise I'm very happy with how the project turned out.
